Quebec is Canada’s largest French-speaking province, rich in both history and culture. It offers a wealth of travel opportunities all-year round thanks to its abundance of snowfall in the Winter, and thriving festival scene during the Summer months.

If you’re visiting the city, make sure to download Roam App from the App Store. With the best hotels, restaurants, bars and more, it’s the ultimate guide to exploring new places far and wide.

What to Do:

Visiting Quebec is a snow-lovers dream as it transforms into a winter playground from November to January. Snowfall is measured in feet rather than inches, and there are plenty of opportunities to ski, snowboard and toboggan.

Mont-Tremblant is a winter oasis just waiting to be explored. Situated on the edge of picturesque Lake Tremblant within the Laurentian Mountains, it’s a great destination for families, friends and couples. There are also opportunities to play golf and hike through the mountains when the weather isn’t quite so cold.

Quebec’s largest city, Montreal is the perfect balance between old quirky charm and elegance. Most shy away from visiting the city during the harsh Winter when temperatures are sub-zero, however. Who can blame them?! Those who can tolerate the snow can enjoy many indoor activities, such as watching a hockey game at the Bell Centre or shopping in a number of malls in downtown Montreal.

The city comes alive during Summer when days are warm, sunny and breezy. You can walk through different neighbourhoods and stumble on different events including markets, music and more. If you’re visiting at this time, make sure to book your hotel in advance as they fill up incredibly fast!

Experience the power of nature only 15 minutes away from the city at Montmorency Falls, an 83 metre high waterfall. Whether you want to climb the stairway, cross the suspension bridge or fly down the zipline, be sure to take in the spectacular views.

Quebec City is a must-see if you’re in the country. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to North America’s oldest streets. Be sure to visit the Petit-Champlain District, a riverside village filled with impressive architecture and cobbled paths.

Visit the Dufferin Terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence River and take a snap of the most photographed hotel in the world - Château Frontenac.

Where to Eat:

Montreal is oozing with restaurants and culinary delights. With delicacies including poutine (that’s posh cheesy chips and gravy to you and me), smoked meats and bagels, it’s the ultimate destination for lovers of rich and delicious food.

L’Express is one of Montreal’s best-loves restaurants, serving up authentic French cuisine seven days a week. The menu rotates according to the season, but there is always a selection of delicious daily specials including steak tartare, foie gras and decadent chocolate mousse.

Chez Biceps BBQ brings the spirit of Texas to Quebec City. Think smoked, tender meat served in a rustic decor reminiscent of an aged cabin.

Where to Drink:

Expect lively atmospheres, fine drinks and live music in bars across Montreal. Cocktail bar Le Lab is the place to head for a selection of unforgettable cocktails made using herbs, spices and fruits. It certainly will not disappoint!

McLean’s Pub is an Irish pub which becomes a real hub for sports lovers when the big hockey games are on. Mix with the locals and enjoy a pint, or soak up the sun on the terrace on Summer days.

Where to Stay:

Situated in downtown Montreal, Hotel le Crystal is handy for shopping, visiting art galleries and nearby museums. Its rooms are light and airy, as well as modern and spacious. There are few centrally-located hotels offering so many amenities, which include a gym, a heated pool, an outdoor hot tub boasting spectacular views and a sauna. Rooms start from £127 per night.

Le Monastère des Augustines is conveniently located for those wanting to explore Quebec City. With a focus on wellness and solitude, it’s a relaxing place for guests to unwind after a long day exploring what the city has to offer. Yoga, guided walks and Tai Chi are offered to guests throughout the day, and there is also a spa offering massages and reflexology. Rooms start from £64 per night.
