Courchevel, France

Courchevel is part of Les Trois Vallées, which also consists of Meribel and Val Thorens. With 600km of pistes and 162 lifts in total, the terrain suits skiers of all ages and abilities, from complete beginner to professional.

Courchevel is not one resort village, but a collection of separate ones. The four most renowned are Courchevel 1850, Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1550 and Courchevel 1300. They’re all conveniently linked by lifts, pistes and a main road.

Be sure to take the cable car up from Courchevel 1850 to the summit of Saulire and savour the views. Advanced skiers can then take the red and black runs all the way back down.

St. Moritz, Switzerland

Glitz and glamour are not the only things you can expect from a visit to St. Moritz - the resort has long been incredibly popular with ski fanatics looking for a winter playground.

St. Moritz’s local mountain, Corviglia, is surrounded by 218 miles of ski runs and 58 lifts. A funicular railway can whisk skiers from the hub of the town into the heart of the slopes. Up here lies the renowned infamous men’s downhill racecourse, with a fear-inducing vertical drop!

Other activities include tobogganing on the famous Cresta Run, curling and bobsleigh rides. The region also offers a cross-country ski rin for nighttime skiing, and a network of hiking trails to be explored in the warmer months.

Apres-ski, there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area where you can recharge your batteries. Whether you are looking to try local delicacies or wanting to sample first-class gourmet cuisine, there is something for all appetites.

Beaver Creek, Vail, Colorado
